¡Hola Speekee! is our 10-week series of free Spanish lessons for children at home.
Over the 10 weeks you will cover the following 10 themes:
Greetings. Numbers. Days / Months. Age. Colours. Animals. Family. Food. Likes and dislikes. Hobbies.
Activity 1
Nieves and Antonio love going to the market. Here they are chanting about potatoes, apples and oranges! Can you hear what each of them is called in Spanish?
Did you spot those words? Don’t worry if not, here’s a table to help you practise:
Spanish | Pronunciation | English | |
---|---|---|---|
Patata | pahtahtah | Potato | |
Patatas | pahtahtass | Potatoes | |
Naranja | narahnhah | Orange | |
Naranjas | narahnhass | Oranges | |
Manzana | manthahnah | Apple | |
Manzanas | manthahnass | Apples |
Why not try chanting like Nieves and Antonio? This will help you to remember the words!
Then you can print out the activity sheet - just follow the instructions on there. If you don’t have a printer, just copy out and fill in the sheet on some paper. It might help to draw your own fruit and vegetables.
Activity 2
This activity involves learning a song. Watch the video below to start with.
Speekee, Dino, Lupi and some of the children show us some foods in this song. Why don’t you try singing along? Here’s the words to the song:
¿Qué hay en la bolsa?
¿Qué hay en la bolsa?
Hay patatas
Hay patatas
¿Cuántas patatas hay?
¿Cuántas patatas hay?
Una, dos, tres patatas
Una, dos, tres patatas
¿Qué hay en la bolsa?
¿Qué hay en la bolsa?
Hay manzanas
Hay manzanas
¿Cuántas manzanas hay?
¿Cuántas manzanas hay?
Una, dos manzanas
Una, dos manzanas
¿Qué hay en la bolsa?
¿Qué hay en la bolsa?
Hay piñas
Hay piñas
¿Cuántas piñas hay?
¿Cuántas piñas hay?
Una piña
Una piña
¿Qué hay en la bolsa?
¿Qué hay en la bolsa?
¡No hay nada!
Now you can learn the song and practise the different words you’ve learnt for different foods!
