Episode 1 - El parque
'El parque' means 'the park'. It's time to say Hola to everyone, as we are introduced to Speekee and friends. We get to know Jim and the Spanish children, who will become very familiar over the ten episodes, in a fun visit to a Spanish park - one of the authentic locations we'll be visiting in the series. Meanwhile, Joe and Maggie have a great time at the local town fair.

'Hola' ('Hello'), says Marina. |
In each episode the Spanish children travel through the 'magic tunnel' to a new and exciting location. Today they are going to the park. |
'Me llamo Speekee' ('My name is Speekee'). This is one of many occasions when the viewer is invited to 'repeat after Speekee'. Some children do so immediately, others prefer to copy the Spanish children. And many join in singing or moving to the songs. |
Jim asks Antonio: '¿Qué tal?' ('How are you?'), and Antonio replies: 'Muy bien' ('Very well'). |
Antonio, Marina and Ana Belén say 'Adiós' ('Goodbye'). We see the language presented in a variety of ways, maintaining interest while repeating key words and phrases. |
This sequence shows Joe and Maggie, two young children who have moved to Spain, at their local town fair. Speekee is saying: 'un barco' ('a boat') Each episode features a short cultural clip. A well as developing cultural awareness, these clips provide a time of reflection for the viewer, with an ease in pace. |

Dino and Lupi sing the ¿Qué tal? (How are you?) song. All the songs in the Speekee series have original words and melodies. They are designed to be easy to understand, to memorise, and for children to sing along with. |
When Speekee takes an object out of the bag at the end of an episode, we know it's review time. This episode has covered introductions, so the object is a photograph. Speekee says, 'Soy yo' ('It's me'). Every episode features a similar review - the viewer knows to expect this and looks out during the episode to see what Speekee puts into the bag. |
